T rainwreck has been described by founder Kyle Gass as a cornucopia of rock and a
5-headed hydra of pleasure. Truer words were never spoken. Over the years, the Wreck has dirt-farmed a sound that lies somewhere in the realm of Southern Rock, but with plenty of forays into Prog-Rock, Boogie, and straight-up Classic Rock and Roll, as well as absurdist comedy banter and lyrics derived from the characters they’ve developed within the band. Always an unforgettable time, their shows have earned them fans all of over the globe, headlining venues in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. As a support act they’ve primed fans for sets by The Reverend Horton Heat, Vida Blue (Page from Phish), and Blues Traveler. The Wreck has also performed on The Jimmie Kimmel Show, and done guest spots for Current TV.
On March 2nd, 2010 they released their long-awaited and much-hyped debut album, “The Wreckoning.”
15 tracks of what they call “Wreck and Roll.” It’s a sound all their own, cultivated from their influences, steeped heavily in the classics, and modified with their own unique set of talents. Fronted by biker-hayseed Darryl Donald (”Lee” of Tenacious D, or JR), and Kyle Gass (aka Klip Calhoun), and containing most of Tenacious D’s live/studio band (John Shredman, Boy Johnny, and Dallas St. Bernard), expect to see Trainwreck in your town in 2010 as they conquer the earth in support of The Wreckoning, and leave in their wake melted faces, busted ear-fannies, and the occasional bastard child.

Darryl

Darryl comes from a long line of log rollers on his papa’s side and his mama was a Native American tap dancer. His talents as a percussionist started at the young age of 2 when he began blowing notes from his baby bottle and using his pacifier like a Jews’ harp. After studying with the Black Mountain Baritones, he ventured south and west where he met Klip Calhoun at a bare-fisted brawl ring in the midwest. His dancing stylizations come from watching and studying the moves of Elvis, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jesco, The Dancing Outlaw. Darryl is also a licensed beautician... though he mostly cuts hair and specializes in the art of mulletry. He refuses to cut any style above the lower neckline and says he will “not contribute to creating another cold-neck in the world.” When not circumnavigating the globe in the Wreckabeggo, DD enjoys time in the great outdoors.. he is an avid camper, backpacker, and fresh-water fisherman. Klip

Klip Photo Hails from a long lineage of Bluebloods. However, his family were admonished from nobility after a royal mishap and then created one of North America’s top ferret breeding businesses. His musical skills were honed at a young age on the banjo and flute-a-phone/recorder before he picked up the guitar and s tudied with Cracker Collins in the Appalachian Mountains. He joined a touring threater company in his teens and found himself left in the midwest after a disagreement with the troupe’s managing director. This was a blessing for Klip as he soonafter got hired at a Renaissance Faire and honed his skills on guitar, lute and flute. He met Darryl while accompanying his semi-famed, brawler cousin, Marty Meathooks, at a street-fighter event in Dayton, Ohio whilst busking near the port-a-potties. And then DD and Klip encountered Boy Johnny, Shredman and Dallas during a holiday concert at which the youngsters were performing under the group name-- “The Wonder of Boys.”

JB Shredman

John “Shreddy” Shredman is a multi-faceted diamond of a dude who’s rich and storied past is only usurped by his absolute mastery of the guitar. However he was not always a student of said instrument. It was in the 90’s that Shredman turned the acrylic wall paint community on its ear as the number one paint namer in the industry. Penning such vivid titles as “Disdainful Peach,””I got those blues,” “Maryweather Circus,” and “Nightdreams.” However the Bureaucracy, red tape, and politics of the field became too much for such an artist to bear so he left to pursue other creative endeavors. He was given a guitar in his travels by a caravan of gypsies for which he traded a Scorpions cassette single of Winds of Change and a Craftmatic Adjustable Bed informational leaflet. It is said that John has never practiced the guitar. The skill is genetically encoded in his DNA, meaning he has never sucked. Klip and Darryl met Shredman while vacationing in Greece and the rest is half-assed history. John Bartholomew Shredman Photo

Boy Johnny

Bassist and back-up vocalist Boy Johnny (John Spiker) was also a member of the International super-group, “The Wonder of Boys.” As the front man, he delivered his golden voice and boyish charm to the screaming masses, but the pressures of super-stardom became too much. He fell into a turbulent spiral of drug abuse, and self loathing.
It was then that Klip and Daryl swooped in like two mulleted angels, and gave Boy Johnny the will to rock again.
